Geek: Dragon*Con Sunday

See you next year...

I don’t want to bore you with a lot of details. And let’s be honest here, I’m not the most punctual individual right now. So to recap, I’ll give you a few highlights of my experience on the “last” day of Dragon*Con.

I had the pleasure of getting to see Will Wheaton and my new folk favorites: Paul and Storm. Also, a new artist Molly Lewis who is pretty amazing. I also met up with an old friend of mine from the previous Dragon*Con, Harlo of BMFcast. So when all is said and done. You’re just going to check out the pictures anyway. Later all, I’ll see you Monday.

Geek: Dragon*Con Saturday

Traffic and Other things I can't remember

Well, it was a perfect storm of traffic this morning. A parade of time lords, steampunk engineers, and every other imaginable characters typically occurs on the second day of the convention. But also, Saturday marks the first day of the SEC season and a humble mix of Georga State fans were mixed in the typical convention traffic. It took us only one hour to park and we consider ourselves lucky.

It s difficult to recall this day (I’ve waited far too long to post this) Sadly, almost everything I can remember involves wanting to see Voltaire and getting way too tired. As I am right now. I’ll have more tomorrow. And a metric ton of pictures from that crazy weekend. Later.

Geek: Dragon*Con Friday

It begins...

The con of the dragon is upon us, and it began with a hell of a day. After getting a measly four hours of sleep, my body was not physically prepared for the amount of walking, cheering, and screaming that goes on at this convention.

The day began with an emotional roller coaster filled with tardy times, missing driver’s licenses, and multiple trips out of the registration line. Fortunately, registration was surprisingly fast and efficient this year with the new use of QR codes to speed up the process. My wife and I were forced to go to the back of the line at least twice and only lost about 30 min of registration time, compared to the 3 hours it took last year. After that brief journey through hell, the convention actually began. My first panel discussed the multiple failures of the MMO genre. Next, was the Dr. Who series and its challenging, confusing cannon. Then I finished up with another panel on applied steampunk weaponry and a few hours of people watching. I’m reserving my opinions for tomorrow, which aims to be the big day of the con so stay tuned.
